Cognatum has a reputation in the properties it manages, maintaining standards and giving service to our residents. Whilst we look after buildings and grounds, our main involvement is with people, some 2000 residents and almost 250 staff members. Good personal relationships are vital in all aspects of our work and our estate-based staff represent the front line. It is they who deal with our residents on a day to day basis, providing a "good neighbour" help, support and reassurance where needed, and demonstrating a caring but business-like approach to the management of the site. Our estate management teams demonstrate a liking for people, an empathetic approach, a great deal of patience and a thoroughly organised manner. Combining all of these factors results in a challenging but rewarding career and within a company where people come first.
All Cognatum estates are low density with an average of about 25 properties on each, although this may be as little as 9 properties and a maximum of 44. They are set within extensive and well tended grounds and in semi rural locations across the country. Each property is sold on a long leasehold basis, with Cognatum being the freeholder. All residents must meet qualifying age criteria for living on our developments, usually 55 but this can be 60 or 65 depending on planning requirements.
