Canary Wharf Contractors Limited (CWCL) is the construction arm of Canary Wharf Group (CWG), owner of the Canary Wharf estate. CWCL carries out all CWG’s construction work. CWCL is also involved in construction and project management projects outside the estate.
Since 1996, CWCL has constructed approximately 10 million square feet of commercial office buildings and 500,000 square feet of retail as well as train stations, parks, wintergardens, bridges and infrastructure. CWG currently has development sites which are capable of producing in excess of a further 10 million square feet in or around the estate.
CWCL is the UK’s foremost tall building contractor. We have unrivalled expertise in the construction of high rise buildings. With specialist trade contractor partners, CWCL has developed new ways of constructing buildings efficiently and safely. Our in-house client CWG has at least six more tall buildings to develop on the Canary Wharf estate and more on the Wood Wharf development, with partners British Waterways and Ballymore Properties.
Projects which are currently under way include a 350,000 square foot commercial building for State Street bank, (due for completion late 2008), two residential towers 50 and 40 stories high in Docklands (due for completion in early 2009) and a nine building mixed-use development, including a 40 storey tower, also in Docklands (due for completion in 2010).
