Freelance Resident Engineer - Rail

Your new company
You will be working for an authority in the West Midlands region who aim to create a more prosperous, fairer, greener and healthier environment for the local area. This authority is working on and managing the design side of new tram extensions within the Birmingham area, which is a £1.3billion project as a whole. Therefore, you will be working on one of the largest and most intriguing projects in the Birmingham area. Due to the second phase of the project now being awarded, the authority is looking to hire a Resident Engineer on a long-term freelance basis.

Your new role
You will be responsible for, but not limited to, overseeing all engineering deliverables ensuring the designs are accurately delivered on site via communication with internal assistant delivery managers and collaboration with site teams whilst supporting delivery managers in completing project handover with the construction and design teams. Furthermore, you will understand and integrate into the Alliance Quality Management System, not being afraid to challenge where necessary to ensure accurate recordings and ensure mistakes are closed out accordingly. This role is an ongoing position with guaranteed work until December 2025, and you will also have the opportunity to work from home.

What you'll need to succeed
You will have a technical background in the delivery of light rail or civil engineering projects, which includes being involved in and overseeing design processes. In addition to this, you will have 10+ years' experience within the rail or highways industry and have experience working with external stakeholders and knowledge of environmental assessment requirements and procedures.
