Your new role:

As a Mechanical Test Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting safe 'end of line' testing of sub-assemblies and finished products, adhering to relevant test methods in compliance with ISO9001 standards. Your role encompasses a broad spectrum of mechanical disciplines, from aerodynamics and fluid mechanics to engine testing and basic sub-assembly checks and calibration. Your objective is to ensure the 'finishing' of all products, providing customers with the best and safest product experience possible. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a strong foundation in mechanical principles, the ability to interpret engineering drawings/data, and a positive attitude towards a dynamic work schedule.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct safe testing of mechanical products and sub-assemblies according to relevant test methods and priorities set by the Senior Test Engineer.
  • Record test data for future reference whenever possible.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faults down to the component level.
  • Utilise the MRN system to enhance product information and test methods.
  • Inspect incoming items against design specifications and accept or reject them as necessary.
  • Assist with repairs and returns as needed.
  • Support the inspection of manufactured parts and accept or reject them accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate records within the DART system.
  • Occasionally, test simple electrical units and calibrate electrical components such as load cells and PCBs.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Previous experience in a relevant mechanical testing or inspection role.
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and diagnose faults.
  • Flexible, positive approach, attention to detail, and creative problem-solving skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Minimum of HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in fitting, assembly, or prototype building.
  • Experience in equipment calibration.
  • F-Gas Certification.
  • Knowledge of ISO Quality standards.
  • Basic wire checking skills.

What you'll get in return:

  • Competitive salary up to £33,000 depending on experience
  • 25 days annual leave
