Assistant QS

Hays Construction are recruiting for an experienced and professional specialist SME contractor based in Merseyside. We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate with 2-3 years of post-graduate experience to develop their skills and grow within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and budgets for construction projects
• Conduct site visits
• Support the preparation of tender documents and contracts
• Monitor project progress and ensure costs are kept within budget
• Collaborate with the Senior QS / Commercial Manager, Project Managers, Site Teams and all external stakeholders involved in the project
• Prepare and submit regular reports on project financials
• Assist in the resolution of any financial disputes or issues

Requirements:

• Ideally, a BSc Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
• 2-3 years of post-graduate experience in quantity surveying or a similar role
• Strong analytical and numerical skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS Excel, cost estimating software).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
