HAYS are recruiting on behalf of a leading electrical contractor based in Dorset, specialising in providing high-quality electrical services to residential, commercial, and industrial clients. We pride ourselves on our commitment to excellence, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Electrical Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical projects, ensuring that all estimates are completed in a timely manner and align with company standards and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for accurate estimates.
  • Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials, and labour expenses.
  • Prepare and present detailed cost breakdowns and proposals to clients.
  • Maintain and update a database of historical data for cost reference.
  • Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
  • Monitor and report on project costs and progress.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of cost control strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator in the construction or electrical contracting industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, materials, and installation methods.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in electrical estimating.
