Building Control Surveyor/ Manager

A busy Local Authority has two vacancies in their Building Control Department.
VACANCY ONE
Job Title: Building Control Surveyor
Location: Leicester and WFH
Rate: Neg
Contract Length: 6 months

Duties:
To examine deposited plans to ensure that proposed work satisfies the relevant requirements.
To carry out site visits to ensure that building work is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Building Act and other relevant legislation.
To visit sites, make reports and take action in relation to dangerous structures and demolition sites.
To undertake enforcement procedures in relation to building work not in compliance with legal requirements.
To give advice assist architects, engineers and the general public regarding building control requirements and to liaise with the Fire Service, Severn Trent, Environment Agency, and other internal / external agencies
To maintain adequate and relevant records of all sites visited in accordance with stated procedures.

About You

Proven experience as a Building Control Surveyor, ideally having a professional qualification (MRICS /
MCABE/MCIOB)


VACANCY TWO

Job Title: Building Control Manager
Location: Leicester and WFH
Rate: Neg
Contract Length: 6 months

Duties:
To manage the Building Control team so that it works effectively to ensure that buildings and structures comply with statutory requirements as to accessibility, quality, safety, and environmental

*Formally manage and develop approximately 8 council employees
* Supervise activities carried out by matrix-managed staff and/or people temporarily deployed for projects (e.g. to issue/oversee/check work and set priorities)
* Supervise the work carried out by people employed on a casual/sessional/volunteer/contracted basis

About You

Extensive experience in a relevant Building Control environment
Experience of effective management of staff and resources
Experience of managing a budget with significant incomes
Experience of leading service improvement measures and opportunities to generate income and/or reduce costs

Proven experience as a Building Control Surveyor, ideally having a professional qualification (MRICS /
MCABE/MCIOB, LABC)
Both of these roles are inside IR35 and can be paid via Umbrella or PAYE.
