Joining Oxford City Council's Corporate Property Team is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a city steeped in history and innovation. You'll be at the forefront of managing and developing the city's diverse property portfolio, from historical landmarks to modern infrastructure.
HAYS are delighted to be working in partnership with the council to present an exciting new opportunity for a Development Surveyor. You'll join the council on an initial fixed-term basis for an initial two-year period, with part time and flexible options also available in a role which would be suitable for a chartered professional with regeneration and development experience, or a general practice surveyor looking to make a move into the development sector.
Your new role
In this role, you will be a key member of the team responsible for supporting the commencement and delivery of complex and high profile, multi-million-pound projects. You will work with a number of internal and external stakeholders in order to progress projects specifically across commencement and early phases - this will involve detailed work on understanding the desired end-results and project outcomes, optioneering including generation of cash flows and business cases before potentially working through planning.
Your role will include:
- Making recommendations on the advice required to support each stage of the project.
- Clearly communicating risks, benefits and alternatives considered when providing advice to the project board.
- Support the project manager through the relevant governance process where required.
- Strive to understand the Oxford property market, including building relationships with landowners and commercial agents.
What you'll need to succeed
If you have a passion for property, an eye for detail and a drive and motivation to improve the environment, then this could be a fantastic next step for you. This role would be suitable for you if you are an experience general practice or estates surveyor, looking to make a step into the world of development and regeneration, or alternatively, you may already be a chartered professional with experience working in a similar role previously.
