Project Escort

Your new company:
As a supplier to the HM Prison Service for the provision of support escorts, Hays is seeking to recruit Prison/Project Escorts similar to the Operational Support Grades (OSGs) role for HMP Bedford. This assignment will be until the end of March 2024.

Your new role:
As part of the security team you will be responsible for assisting in the safety and security of the establishment where your duties will include escorting visitors, building contractors, gate duties within the prison and outside areas. You will ensure the safety and security of the visitors, staff and prisoners within a Prison establishment, while persons from outside of the prison service are on site.

Duties:
Escorting contractors & vehicles around the prison area
Searching visitors & contractors
Monday - Friday 7am to 4pm or 7:30am to 4:30pm
Radio operation & handling
Supervision of visitors & contractors on site
Contractor Tool checks
Patrolling perimeter and grounds
Health & Safety Procedures
Routine administrative work

What you\'ll need to succeed:
No formal qualifications or previous experience is required for this role. The nature of the escort role requires candidates to be security conscious and able to challenge potential compromises and risks. You will also need to be reliable and consistent, level-headed and have exceptional interpersonal skills. Successful applicants will have a background in customer services or security, and will be assessed based on the following competencies: Acting with integrity, respecting others, building relationships and team work, communicating effectively, developing self and others. Full training is provided by the establishment/ department. Training time will be paid at the standard hourly rate.

Security clearance:
Immediate start if you are already prison cleared.
All applicants will be subject to the HM Prison Service Security Clearance procedure, which can take up to 4 weeks. This can include a Disclosure Baring Service (DBS) check. You must hold a Valid Passport or Birth Certificate & Photo Driving Licence in your current address. All applicants must be able to provide details of 3 years of satisfactory references
