Your new role
As the Street Lighting Operational General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the street lighting operations in Suffolk. This role requires strong leadership skills, street lighting expertise, and a strategic mindset to drive efficiency and continuously improve service delivery. With a 10-year contract, this position offers stability and the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the community\'s street lighting infrastructure.
Responsibilities:

  • Lead the street lighting operations in Suffolk, ensuring the effective delivery of lighting services in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to optimise service delivery, enhance efficiency, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage and allocate resources efficiently to meet operational requirements.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of street lighting projects, including installation, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Monitor and analyse operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective measures.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, clients, and community representatives.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in street lighting.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a culture of safety across the organisation.
  • Prepare reports, budgets, and forecasts related to the street lighting operations.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the operational team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

What you\'ll need to succeed

  • Previous street lighting experience is essential.
  • HNC or degree in a relevant field within the industry (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Lighting Design) is required.
  • Proven experience in a similar managerial role, demonstrating the ability to lead and manage street lighting operations effectively.
  • A valid driver\'s licence is essential for this role.
  • Strong knowledge of street lighting standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to plan, organise, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop a diverse team.
  • A commitment to safety and a strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
