Construction Programme Manager

Hays Property is delighted to have been appointed to support NHS Blood and Transplant recruit a Construction Programme Manager. NHSBT provides a blood transfusion and transplantation service to the NHS across the UK, managing life-saving services such as the donation, storage and transplantation of blood, organs, bone marrow and tissues. Their mission is to save and improve the lives of as many people as possible through pioneering research, expanding medical knowledge and improving patient care.
This role sits with the Technical Services team, who provide expert programme management and are trusted advisors for all building pathology investigations, refurbishment projects, maintenance programmes and new builds. They also work closely with the Sustainability team managing projects linked to energy and carbon goals.

Your new role
This is a largely remote role, where you will travel to site to ensure the successful delivery of projects from £200K to £3M from inception to completion. You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of experts, external consultants and contractors to design and deliver in accordance with mandatory licencing and compliance legislation.
What you'll need to succeed
This role will suit someone who enjoys complex, interesting, society and community-driven projects in unique and varied settings. You will enjoy autonomy and responsibility, whilst thriving in a collaborative and supportive team culture. You will aspire to learn from colleagues whilst sharing your knowledge and experience to mentor others. You will have thorough and detailed knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts, building regulations and compliance, a building pathology and surveying background and a track record of success in large construction or capital projects. Experience in the public sector either directly or through a contractor would be preferable.

What you'll get in return.
This role is advertised at up to £57,000, with 27 days holiday plus bank holidays, up to 20% employer pension contribution and either lease or hire a car for site visit purposes. The NHSBT Technical Services team are committed to supporting the training and development of staff, and are managed by a Professional Mentor of CIOB.
