Head of Service and Maintenance

Your new company
A leading contractor specialising in fire safety within the social housing and local authority sector. They are currently delivering 12 long terms contracts that involve service, maintenance and installation of fire alarms, emergency lighting, extinguishers, risers, AOVs and sprinklers across a portfolio of over 2000 buildings.
They are looking for an operational leader to head their service and maintenance department driving compliance, customer satisfaction and commercial betterment across the contracts.
As Head of Service and Maintenance you will be responsible for the overall management of office based works coordinators and field based engineers as well as the main point of contact for their customers.
Your new role
1. Management:
• Managing all aspects of their service and maintenance contracts
• Planning, organising and delivering contracts to ensure 100% compliance, meeting and exceeding contract KPIs, zero defects, delivering on-time and in budget whilst achieving customer satisfaction
• Contract & Project planning – setting out workflow targets to ensure completion dates are met.
• Line management of works co-ordinators and service and maintenance engineers


2. Finance:
• Liaising closely with the Company's finance department to ensure that contracts are invoiced in a timely manner and that applications for payment are submitted when necessary.
• Agreeing commercial terms, valuation processes and payment dates with suppliers and subcontractors
• Interim valuations to client covering all works complete to date
• Ensuring all variations or formally quoted, agreed by client and invoiced correctly
• Assist in finalising all accounts.




3. Customer Liaison:
• Maintaining and building strong professional relationships with the client representatives - surveyors, building managers and design teams.
• Attend client and internal meetings from pre-contract, progress, commissioning to post contract.


4. Management of Resources:
• Provide leadership, assistance and technical advice to a team of Electrical & Fire engineers to ensure contractual commitments are met and exceeded.
• Management of resource levels to ensure servicing and repairs are delivered on time
• Managing direct staff and specialist subcontractors on site
• Oversee Health and Safety, site engineering staff and both supervisory staff / Sub Contractors


5. Information:
• Organising and collating paperwork including, Working Drawings & Handovers Packs taking client briefing notes, submitting schedule of works, A good understanding of forms or Main and Sub Contract documents.


What you'll need to succeed
• Excellent computer literacy with experience of data input and word processing skills.
• Experience in contract management within social housing sector
• Experience of management teams – office based and field based engineers
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
• To be able to work following specific instructions.
• A good team player, who is capable of working under pressure with a high level of personal integrity,
• Strong communication skills.
