Your new company
Our client is a large public sector organisation based in Central London. They are currently looking to recruit an Interim Director of Health and Safety to lead and manage their Health and Safety division on an ongoing long term contractual basis. Offices are based close to the main transport hubs making this a very commutable location.They also actively promote a flexible working policy allowing you to work from both the office and home which will enable you to have an excellent work-life balance and a high degree of flexibility.
Your new role
As the Interim Director of Health and Safety you will be responsible for the teams that manage a variety of corporate, commercial and residential properties with the Head of Health and Safety and Head of Fire Safety being an example of your direct reports. As the Director you will also be the strategic lead to enhance the culture and bring change to facilitate the fulfilment of legal and other requirements, continual improvement in the management of health and safety and meeting the organisations health and safety aims and objectives.
You will also be the senior competent person (as required by the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations).
What you'll need to succeed
It is essential that you hold a NEBOSH diploma or equivalent occupational safety and health qualification and be chartered member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or equivalent body. You will need to demonstrate experience of leading teams at senior level for large complex organisations, knowledge of developing and implementing a health and safety strategy and a track record of delivering a programme of change.
Technically you will need to have an in depth understanding of H&S law and the Fire Safety Act, their principles and practical application. You will also need to demonstrate the ability to explain legal requirements to non-health and safety audiences / stakeholders.
