Graduate/Junior Surveyor
Following a restructure of the Building Department to accommodate continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Graduate/Junior Surveyor. The role has been created to support the Principal Surveyor in achieving the core deliverables of the department. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is eager to learn and looking to develop their career with an employer who will support them every step of the way.
The role
The Principal Surveyor is responsible for managing repairs, maintenance and capital projects as well as delivering development opportunities across the Estate’s property portfolio, while managing the Department’s annual expenditure. A high number of Bolton Abbey’s buildings are heritage assets, requiring considered and sensitive management. The Building Team currently includes the Principal Surveyor, a Building Surveyor, Technical Administrator and Water Supply Technician and you will be working closely with all members of the team.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Assist with day to day reactive estate repairs.
Undertake and compile condition surveys and reports.
Prepare specification and tender documentation.
Administration of CDM Documentation.
Assist with the inspection and monitoring of work contracts when needed.
Liaise with clients, contractors, tenants and other relevant parties building up working relationships.
Planning and overseeing building work on small projects.
Attend site visits and project inspections.
Essential skills and abilities:
- Good knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation.
- Able to work collaboratively within a small team.
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
- Methodical and organised approach to work.
- Knowledge of construction.
- Problem solving skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence
