Estates & Facilities Director

Bordering the Thames in Fulham and set in 42 acres of magnificent grounds, The Hurlingham Club is an oasis in central London. Recognised throughout the world as one of Britain’s greatest private members’ clubs, it retains its traditions and heritage, whilst providing modern facilities and services for its members. The Club continually looks at ways in which it can improve its social and sporting facilities within an elegant and congenial ambience.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Estates & Facilities Director will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the Clubs grounds, sports facilities and buildings. The post holder will be responsible for energy management initiatives and overseeing all aspects of day to day soft services. Additionally, you will lead the delivery of all aspects of planned and reactive maintenance. There are four direct reports and a total team of 70. You will also be the health and safety lead for the club.

The successful candidate will have proven experience of leading a customer facing FM team in a similar prestigious environment and have demonstrable experience in creating a culture of service excellence. You will be adept in people management including mentoring, motivating and developing staff. Excellent organisational and planning skills are also essential including the effective performance management of external suppliers. Previous experience in a high public footfall environment would be advantageous.

We are particularly seeking to maximise the potential of our history, brand and physical environment from a property and FM perspective. We are, therefore, seeking candidates who have a track record of successfully operating in similar best in class environments. Given the diverse nature of the multiple stakeholder relationships, the successful candidate must be resilient, possess excellent interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills and be comfortable in working in a collaborative environment.

The competitive benefits package includes membership of the Club (for the individual, their partner and children under 18). Also included are private healthcare, cash-plan and travel insurance, group life assurance, bonus, free meals whilst on duty and an excellent pension scheme.

To arrange a confidential discussion, please contact our retained advisor Michael Hewlett michael.hewlett@mrgpeople.co.uk of The Management Recruitment Group. They have been exclusively retained and all direct and third-party applications will be forwarded to them.
