I presently work for a reputable contracting business that has a diverse range of knowledge and experience. Offering a variety of drylining and façade services whilst simultaneously engaging heavily with national home builders and other commercial clients. They've worked on some major projects such as the Shard and the London television centre from their regional office, where they conduct business. Your new role
As the project Quantity Surveyor you will assist the commercial manager with all daily operational tasks and ensure senior management reports are accurate and updated in advance of progress meetings. Projects will be predominantly based in the Manchester, Leeds, and York area. Therefore, commuting to sites occasionally will be required aswell the occasional visit to the Leicester office. Apart from this the role can be completed on a work from home basis. The main task you will be involved with are:

• * Issue the CVR each month in line with the reporting schedule and attends CVR meetings
• * Advises the Regional Commercial Manager of any positive or negative differences in anticipated labour costs
• * Agrees a valuation schedule with the main contractor if one had not already been agreed
• * Attends estimating and handover meeting, participating in setting start and target margins.
• * Produces sub-contract documentation of sub-contact contracts to be placed.
• * Agrees the planned prelims with the Project Manager at the start of the project.
• * Agrees the value of variations with the Principal Contractor.

What you'll need to succeed
Ideally you will have a degree qualification in quantity surveying with some sort of experience in drylining and façade, however this is not necessary. Those with a qualification in another construction related subject and relevant experience in surveying will also so be considered. Ideally you will have circa 2 - 4 years of experience working as a QS. The candidate will have clear communication methodologies and should be able to adapt into a variety of projects. They should also have a "constant learner" mentality as internal career progression is heavily promoted. Candidates who are undertaking a professional course working towards estimating are also welcome into the role.
