We have an exciting opportunity for a Construction Design & Management Principal Designer to join a new Health & Safety team at an award winning multidisciplinary consultancy based in Eltham with a potential for hybrid working. You'll work on a wide range of projects, including national refurbishment and new build schemes across residential, education, health, care, commercial and blue light sectors.


Your new role

• Work alongside the Head of Construction Design & Management, under our ISO 9001 Quality Management System
• Working on RIBA stages 1-6.
• Plan, manage, monitor and coordinate health and safety in the pre-construction phase.
• Help and advise the client in bringing together preconstruction information, and provide the information designers and contractors needed to carry out their duties.
• Work with any other designers on the project to eliminate foreseeable health and safety risks to anyone affected by the work and, where that is not possible, take steps to reduce or control those risks.
• Take account of relevant information (such as an existing health and safety file) that might affect design work carried out both before and after the construction phase has started.
• Ensure that everyone involved in the preconstruction phase communicates and cooperates, coordinating their work wherever required
• Liaise with the principal contractor, keeping them informed of any risks that need to be controlled during the construction phase

What you'll need to succeed

• Demonstration of Health & Safety skills and knowledge
• 5+ years industry experience
• Health and Safety professional qualification such as:
• Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health - IOSH
• Member of the Association of Project Safety - APS
• NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health & Safety
• International Institute of Risk and Safety Management - IIRSM.
