Your new company
This client is a well established Council is Sussex, they offer general needs homes, and in addition a wide range of housing, including key worker and shared ownership. They manage over 8000 homes across the Sussex region.

Due to increased demand within the team, they are now looking for a maintenance surveyor to work within their property team on 6 month contract, specifically looking after their garage portfolio and some tenanted properties.

Your new role
To carry out day to day and programmed diagnosis of building maintenance repairs throughout the current housing stock, including inspections, surveys, writing specifications of work, supervision of contractors and administration.

Main Responsibilities

  • To carry out building inspections, estimate the cost of work, specifications, supervise and undertaken contract administration in respect of Housing Repairs.
  • To carry out inspections, estimate costs, specifications, supervise and undertake contact administration in respect of public buildings and the garage portfolio.
  • To undertake budgetary control over maintenance and other building work and to ensure that repairs to leasehold properties are completed and that recharges are applied in accordance with current procedures and legislation.
  • To ensure that all duties are carried out in compliance with statutory provisions and with the Council's policy for health and safety.
  • To become familiar with the Councils ICT systems, works ordering and scheduling procedures including interfaces with the Councils term contractors ICT systems.
  • To Carry out asset surveys and scoping of work for vacant properties.


What you'll need to succeed
In order to be considered for this role you will need to have

  • Knowledge of the Social Housing Sector and awareness of its regulations
  • A demonstrable knowledge of building construction, building standards, planning regulations, regulatory standards, health & safety, and other legislation relevant to asset management.
  • Knowledge of effective professional surveying service for responsive repairs, voids and aids and adaptations to high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Effective liaison skills with staff, residents, service providers, contractors, and consultants
  • Management of small projects and an understanding of CDMC
  • Full Driving Licence required


What you'll get in return
The successful candidate will receive a salary of up to £25 per hour (umbrella/LTD) plus business mileage paid.
