Quantity Surveyor job vacancy in Sussex for main contractor working on maintenance projects.

Your new company
A fantastic opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor or Intermediate QS to work with a family run main contractor here in the Sussex area. Specialising in all forms of External and Internal Refurbishments with a turnover of £80m. The Company works in the commercial and industrial sectors, specifically on housing, schools, hospitals, etc and has built up a reputation working for Social Housing providers and Local Authorities.

This role within a diverse and highly skilled team, with over 350 employees and nearly 60 years' experience specialising in construction, responsive repairs, maintenance and roofing. Projects from the Brighton office typically involve - Responsive repairs, maintenance, roofing, external works, kitchens and bathrooms; common areas; internals decorations in the social housing sector.

Your new role

  • Measure & calculate rates for estimating,
  • Sub-contract monitor & control cost
  • Valuation preparation
  • Manage the contract costs, and work with the site teams to achieve contented productive workforce, minimised cost, satisfied customers, maximised added value & profit.
  • Achieve best cashflow and variance analysis.
  • Produce Monthly CVR's.
  • Report on opportunities, risk, and performance of each contract.
  • The role reports into the Senior Quantity Surveyor

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience in a QS role - at any level
  • Ideally experience of working to schedules of rates
  • Training and experience in the JCT suite of Contracts and recent updates, along with awareness of NEC
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Prior external Refurbishment/Decent homes experience is advantageous
  • Full clean drivers licence - or ability to travel to sites and meetings as required
