Senior Project Manager

London Metropolitan University is seeking to recruit a Senior Project Manager to play a key role in the delivery of its new Estates Strategy.

London Metropolitan University (London Met) is a striving and ambitious institution committed to transforming the lives of its students through excellent education. We are committed to making education available to people from all walks of life, creating and advancing social justice, social mobility and access to opportunity and professions. Our graduates benefit personally, but also contribute to society, culture, public services and the economy in all areas of London, the UK and around the world.

Now is an exciting time to be joining the University to take up this role. We launched our new Estates Strategy in 2022, which sees the University committing to bold and large-scale investments of £180 million over the next decade, in order to develop our buildings, physical and digital infrastructure.

Reporting to the Head of Projects Delivery, the Senior Project Manager will lead projects teams to deliver estate development projects typically from £1m to £50m in value across an estate portfolio including academic and teaching facilities, social and hospitality space and workspace. You will get the chance to manage a diverse range of projects, with a significant proportion of the projects being complex redevelopments and refurbishments within live, operational environments. Key aspects of the role include brief development, design management, contract procurement and oversight of construction delivery and commissioning/handover, whilst taking lead responsibility for ensuring projects are delivered to quality, time, cost and safety expectations.

The successful candidate will possess relevant experience in a project management role with responsibility for the delivery complex refurbishment projects within live, operational environments. You will have strong commercial management skills, with a proven track record of contract administration and the procurement and management of consultant and contractor teams. We are seeking an individual with a highly motivated and proactive disposition and the interpersonal and communication skills to operate successfully with a diverse range of stakeholder groups.

If you are inspired to join a dynamic and purposeful team and play a leading role in delivery of a capital investment programme that will transform the estate and environment for our students, staff and visitors, do take a look at the candidate brochure and contact our retained search advisors Nick Coppard (nicholas.coppard@mrgpeople.co.uk) and Charley McCarthy (charley.mccarthy@mrgpeople.co.uk) at MRG to arrange a briefing discussion.

Championing equity and inclusion lies at the heart of everything we do here at London Metropolitan University. Read more about our diverse community and our commitments to inclusion and equality at: https://www.londonmet.ac.uk/about/equality-and-diversity/
