We are currently looking for 'Manufacturing Engineers' (Assembly Planners)


We are currently looking for 3x Manufacturing Engineers (Assembly Planners) to work within one of the worlds largest global automotive manufacturing brands. This is a long term rolling contract (competitive value rates negotiable depending on experience - Umbrella options available also)

The role is based on site in Chichester, and there could be hybrid working options available for the right candidates.

The Role:
The assembly planner (AP) assumes the responsibility for implementing processes, jigs, fixtures and plant equipment into the production line required by any product/process changes, running changes or new product introduction. The AP is responsible for the procurement of any equipment and is responsible for ensuring their capability within the production system prior to releasing them into series production. The AP is also responsible for process security including introduction of scanning processes and equivalent processes to ensure the product is built to the expected high standards.
The role involves project management of multiple projects across several departments to ensure processes, equipment and tooling are delivered in line with the vehicle project timelines and therefore MS project experience is desirable. The AP is responsible for ensuring budget requirements are planned and tracked for their individual projects and communicated to the vehicle project team accordingly.

Other Areas of Responsibility:

  • Confirming proof of manufacture
  • Supports the conception of assembly jigs and fixtures
  • Introducing essential topics into the specialist Fachteam (Specialist international team specialising in specific areas of the vehicle)
  • Introduction of Fachteam relevant processes and projects into the plant
  • Regular coordination with relevant interface partners in the plant (Assembly Production specialists, production, finance, purchasing)
  • Regular coordination of external partners (Facility manufacturers, tooling suppliers etc)
  • Creation of process documentation for the production associates
  • Enhances the plant specific assembly processes and documentation
  • Processing of plant specific quality topics at a process level
  • Coordination of hardware requirements (jigs, fixtures and equipment)
  • Processing of the project steering lists for own project deliverables.
  • Supporting project evaluations for new product introduction to ensure the requirements (processes, jigs, fixtures, and equipment) needed within their area of responsibility can be delivered and modified as required to ensure successful introduction of new products within the plant.
  • Carrying out risk analysis to ensure process security and right first time at point of fit.
  • Processing and implementation of all incoming changes (new model introduction, engineering changes and product improvements)
  • Able to travel (nationally and internationally) - to other plants

  • A successful candidate must have a mechanical engineering degree or equivalent degree.
  • Manufacturing experience of greater than 5 years is desired (Automotive manufacturing would be preferred but is not essential)
  • Prior use of BMW systems for Assembly Planning is desired (but on the job training will be provided for those without this knowledge)
  • The BMW specific system qualifications will be carried out within the framework of the TP-4 competence management (Introduction program, training needs analysis (BBA), Qualification measures).
