Your new company
Site Manager required following the continued expansion for this Sussex based Main Contractor. Working on projects up to c.£8m and looking to further expand and extend their operations, they work on sectors including - commercial, education, heritage, housing and retrofit. Working closely with their clients to achieve high quality building projects - completed to reasonable and achievable timescales. They are looking to recruit a manager who aspires to excellence and professionalism and who wishes look ahead to their future career progression.

Your new role
To oversee all daily management aspects of a project from start to completion. Ensuring that the works are completed on time, to a high-quality standard and within budget. To maintain site cleanliness, health & safety and to add value to the construction process by general proactive involvement. To look ahead, plan and coordinate the supply of materials, the works of tradesmen and subcontractors. To manage site safety, quality, logistics and to keep excellent site records. Ensuring that works are well planned, coordinated and client wishes, and variations are carried out in an efficient and timely fashion. Ensure that projects are handed over with a high quality of finish and defect free.


  • Update Project Programme, formulate and track short term target programmes
  • To take advantage of opportunities to develop oneself & others
  • To chair subcontractor progress & Health & Safety meetings
  • To maintain Information Required Schedule (RFI), CVI schedule & TS schedules and ensure they are closed out correctly. Plus, issue subcontractors SSI's effectively and in a timely manner
  • Responsible for Set up and secure the site including:
    • Welfare.
    • Office accommodation.
    • Power and water including taking any relevant meter readings.
    • Logistics.
    • Hoardings and site security.
    • Signage
  • Plan, coordinate, look ahead and manage all aspects of the construction process
  • To be responsible for ensuring that safe working practices are followed at all times
  • To ensure the smooth running of each contract in a timely and profitable manner.
  • To chair weekly subcontractor meetings, report on safety, progress and performance, to ensure that minutes are taken and issued in a timely manner and actioned.
  • Carry out regular toolbox talks with operatives onsite and record.
  • Take weekly progress photos
  • Formulate in conjunction with the QS the project procurement schedule in line with both contract and target programmes plus attend all subcontract pre-start meeting with the QS
  • To strive for handover of the project with zero defects and snagging.
  • Neighbourhood liaison.


  • What you'll need to succeed

    • Minimum HNC / HND or NVQ Level 7 qualification (preferred) or a proven history of relevant experience.
    • Excellent verbal & written communication skills plus intermediate numeracy analytical & problem-solving skills, with ability to report against programme
    • Good Health & Safety Skills and effective compilation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements
    • Suitable industry standard management skills ie. SMSTS etc
    • Good negotiation skills and effective in meetings
    • Be professional in attitude and presentation
