Founded in 1883, Cardiff University is established as one of Britain's leading research universities.  An ambitious and innovative university located in a beautiful and thriving capital city, our vision is to be a world-leading, research-excellent, educationally outstanding university, driven by creativity and curiosity, which fulfils its social, cultural and economic obligations to Cardiff, Wales, the UK and the world.

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Estates (Operations), this role takes responsibility for the operation, compliance and maintenance of all mechanical and electrical engineering services across the University estate, which encompasses a diverse range of buildings and facilities including teaching and research space, healthcare facilities, workspace, enterprise space, social and hospitality space, residential accommodation, recreational and sports facilities and the public realm.   You will provide professional guidance and advice to the University on the medium and longer-term direction, strategy, policies and objectives for engineering infrastructure, and services, and advise and liaise with the Carbon Programme team on the delivery of energy related matters.

We are seeking an exceptional candidate with proven experience of leading engineering services across a large-scale, diverse and complex portfolio, with a track record of leading transformation programmes resulting in demonstratable advancement in operational estates and infrastructure management.  To be a success in the role we are seeking an individual with outstanding stakeholder engagement and team leadership skills, and who is results focused and customer-centric in approach.

This role offers an engineering professional the chance to take a leadership role across a large-scale, diverse estate portfolio for a renowned organisation based at the heart of a major city. We believe this can be achieved through attracting, developing, and retaining a diverse range of staff from many different backgrounds who have the ambition to create a University which seeks to fulfil our social, cultural and economic obligation to Cardiff, Wales, and the world. In supporting our employees to achieve a balance between their work and their personal lives, we will also consider proposals for flexible working or job share arrangements.
