£42,155pa to £44,737pa with potential to increase to £53,353pa on achieving designated skills and experience
We are looking for an experienced Building Surveyor to join our team responsible for the timely, efficient and cost-effective delivery of building surveying services relating to the University’s maintenance and estates strategy.
Main duties and responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering building surveying, contract management and project management. This will include managing maintenance projects for the built fabric of the estate, including the appointment and management of professional consultants and contractors and implementation of the university’s Long-Term Maintenance (LTM) programme.
The role includes originating the design and specification of alterations and refurbishment to the university estate and conducting measured surveys of the university’s buildings and estate. Providing accurate cost estimate advice will also be a requirement.
Skill and experience required
We would expect you to have a working knowledge of the Town and Country Planning Acts, Building Regulations and British Standard Codes of Practice and also to have a working knowledge of the CDM regulations and JCT standard forms of building contracts.
You will have experience of estimating cost control procedures and be knowledgeable of IT and its applications to estate management/building surveying.
It is essential that you are able to work effectively and flexibly often to tight deadlines and are able to prepare and present reports, both technical and non-technical.
Ideally you will have experience of an Estates department preferably within an educational establishment, but this is not essential.
Qualifications required
- Degree or equivalent recognised qualification in appropriate discipline or equivalent experience. A professional qualification (or working towards) e.g. RICS, CIOB, RIBA is desirable.
- Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD and/or Revit is desirable.
