Medical Secretary

Your new company

You will be working for an East Lancashire based NHS Trust. They provide effective and personal care for around 750,000 per year. They offer primary care to over 530,000 patients in the local community and have 8,000 employees in the trust to ensure the needs of end users are met.

Your new role

In the role of Medical Secretary, you will be responsible for providing excellent administrative and organisational support to the consultants and senior members in the Emergency department. For the main part of your role, you will be required to shorthand, write reports and summarise multiple reports and consultations from a wide range of professionals. As a medical secretary you will be actioning and providing prompt responses from post and other areas of the trust to the key consultants. Other job duties will include processing patient discharge notes and summarise reports, making sure these are completed to the designated time limit.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in the role of Medical Secretary you will need RSA/OCR III Typewriting or RSA/OCR Audio Typewriting Stage III or equivalent, as well as GCSE English at Grade 4 or equivalent. You will also need to be computer literate and be able to produce accurate and presentable documentation. It is highly desirable that the successful candidate understands medical terminology in hand with a qualification in any kind of medical/ healthcare background.
