Due to the ongoing growth in the workload of their water business, our client is looking for an Assistant Asset Manager to join their Wastewater Asset Planning Team in Derby

Your new role

The Asset Planning team carries out a range of projects in the clean and wastewater sector, including drainage network improvement schemes to relieve flooding and pollution problems, wastewater and clean water asset management, and analysis of big data to support operational improvements.

Your duties will include

  • Analysing asset performance and understanding engineering design
  • Managing the delivery of technical tasks to the clients
  • Be able to liaise with clients, contractors, stakeholders and other professional bodies
  • Going on site visits
  • Development of sewer system models to investigate deficiencies and generation of outline solutions
  • Managing workstreams and supporting technicians in the delivery of work
  • Analysis of sewerage related operational data and telemetry
  • Support development of technical reports and other project deliverables
  • Undertake site asset surveys for physical and condition assessments
  • Prepare (and adhere to) health and safety risk assessments


What you'll need to succeed

  • BSc/BEng Engineering (or related e.g. Geography) degree or equivalent experience
  • A good understanding of the UK water industry
  • Experience of using GIS programmes MapInfo and/or ArcGIS
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience working with software such as FME, Power Bi, and/or programming tools such as Ruby, Python and Visual Basic
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Proactive self-starter
  • Desire to learn and develop technically and work towards a professional qualification


Desirable Criteria

  • Any prior experience of similar work in areas such as water supply, treatment and drainage
  • 2-3 years' water industry experience
  • Experience of undertaking DWMPs
  • Experience/knowledge of InfoNet/InfoAsset
  • Knowledge of local water client specifications
  • Experience of working in a partnering environment
  • Sound commercial understanding
  • Full UK driving License
