Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Your new company

An excellent opportunity to join a growing M&E consultancy with offices in multiple locations including the Isle of Man, working on private and public sector projects supporting Health, Education, Residential, Office & Warehousing, public buildings and alternative energy clients. The team is small and friendly with ambitions to grow and offer opportunities to progress and advance your career in the future.


Your new role

You will be working alongside a small team of apprentices who will report to you and you will help to manage and advance their knowledge base. There will be a varied workload of public and private sector projects that will encompass a range of different sectors. You will be leading and developing detailed briefs in conjunction with clients and senior colleagues allowing you to establish and maintain client relationships. You will carry out site surveys, draft drawings and calculations prepared using IES. You will also undertake condition assessments producing PPM surveys and reports as well as undertaking defect inspections and issue appropriate certification. You will also write and produce operation and maintenance manuals. In addition, you will represent both the Mechanical and Electrical Design at Design Team Meetings and help to tutor apprentices in your team.


What you'll need to succeed

You will need a degree in Building Services HND/HNC or equivalent with 10 years post degree experience in the public or private sector. You will need to be able to establish and develop good working relationships with both professionals and clients through good written and verbal communication. You will need to be able to work with minimal supervision, prioritising your workload, to meet deadlines using a variety of design tools such as AutoCAD.

ACBSIE or MIET registered is preferred and as such have an excellent understanding of current regulations. You will need to be able to demonstrate a flexible approach to work and willingness to travel/stay away from home from time to time. As such a full UK driving Licence is required as well as access to a car.
