Your new company
Our client is looking for a Purchasing & Logistics Assistant / Buyer to support the operations of the central procurement department working on the HS2. The HS2 is a new high speed railway that will serve as the backbone of Britain's transport network.
Your new role
Your responsibilities will be to support the purchasing and logistics team in delivering an excellent service,
to follow contracts programmes for the Joint Venture and ensure timely provision of specified equipment and supplies for the Project. The role will require you:
To be able to adapt quickly and efficiently to programme requirements.
To ensure arrangements are in place to transport rigs and site equipment to sites.
To appraise potential suppliers and expedite the quality assurance of them.
To run comparisons, and negotiate on price ethically and appropriately.
To raise and manage orders.
To expedite scheduled deliveries by liaising with suppliers.
To track on-hire reports and collection of off-hired items.
To monitor and record supplier performance.
To support the Procurement & Logistics function as required.
To succeed, you will need to interact within the Joint Venture team and with all stakeholders in a professional manner. Comply with, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in accordance with Fairness, Respect, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement (FREDIE) principles. Maintain a good relationship with Plant and Accounts departments.
Either educated to A-level standard or have proven experience within a procurement or construction environment. To have some commercial awareness and be organised by nature, be able to use own initiative, be confident, and have excellent, assured communication skills both verbally and written. Have the ability to adapt and amend work load priorities in a regularly changing environment. Excellent IT skills - Microsoft packages including Outlook, Excel, Word. Training will be given on EVision (Purchasing software).
To be a natural team worker, have a positive and friendly attitude, well organised and efficient. Have the ability to be self-sufficient with supervision as required. To be willing to develop good negotiating skills. Have the flexibility to adapt to changing demands of the role and to be able to carry out duties not part of the normal remit on occasions.
You will receive a highly competitive rate of pay. This is a brand new scheme, as such, it affords the successful candidate the opportunity to start the project from start to finish. You will also receive a very long term freelance assignment.
