Assistant Building Surveyor - Castle Howard - Yorkshire

Macdonald & Company are proud to be partnered with Castle Howard to find them an Assistant Building Surveyor to join their property team based on the estate.

Castle Howard is a magnificent 18th century residence set within 8000 acres of breathtaking landscape in the Howardian Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty in the heart of North Yorkshire. Located 15 miles from the historical city of York; with world-renowned collections, stunning architecture, idyllic gardens and a year-round events calendar Castle Howard is an inspirational environment to be part of and bring visitors to.

You will be assisting the Head of Built Environment with the varied surveying and project work needed to keep the estate in good repair and progressing to achieving their masterplan and vision; whether that be a condition survey on a proposed holiday cottage with subsequent responsibility for the refurbishment or upgrade, or assisting with some of the larger conservation projects that are ongoing.

You need to have at least 2 years of experience as a Building Surveyor, ideally be familiar with managing small projects and schedules of work, as well as being able to work relatively autonomously to survey a variety of residential and commercial properties, including some heritage work.

You should also be working towards MRICS status - there is full APC support.
