Leading Main Contractors seeks Design Manager to join their business. Work on interesting stimulating projects


Hays Construction are working in partnership with a leading main contractor who are recognised as a leader in their space for the provision of community infrastructure such as schools, healthcare and leisure facilities across the UK. With 2022 looking like their best year ever they are seeking to appoint a Design Manager to their team based in the Central Belt in Scotland.

As Design Manager you will be engaged at all stages of the project lifecycle from preconstruction to final handover. You will be a key conduit of design information across all stakeholders ensuring that the building design is reviewed appropriately from both a buildability and commercial perspective. Once your project is up and running you will then manage the design process ensuring any changes or design issues are resolved quickly and efficiently with a focus on positive stakeholder management.

The ideal candidate is from either an architecture or construction background and has direct experience of working as a design manager for a recognised main contractor in Scotland. Your project background will include publicly funded projects such as schools or universities and you will have deep expertise of managing the design process for these type of projects. Candidates from an architecture background must enjoy the more practical elements of construction and you see yourself as managing the design rather than actually doing the design!
