Job Details

Your new company
Founded over 100 years ago they are one of Europe's biggest specialist holiday providers, with access to over 3000 stunning locations in the UK and Europe.

Never afraid of innovation, they have always moved with the times. One of the reasons they make these changes is to better reflect the broadening tourist population, embracing diversity and reinforcing a sense of community.

At the beginning of the pandemic, like most holiday providers, they were restricted by the lockdowns. As the restrictions lifted, they were able to take advantage of the 'staycation' holiday makers within the UK. As a result they were able to upgrade their facilities and services to enhance the customer experience. They are now in a much better place and have new and exciting plans to grow and develop their business.

As part of this new growth and development, they are looking to change their estates team, and are looking for an Acquisitions Surveyor to join their South East head office.

Your new role
To assist the Head of Estates and Estates Team to acquire new sites as required around the United Kingdom in alignment with the overall long term business strategy by identifying and acquiring new sites to meet the business' portfolio requirements. The role reports to the Senior Estates Manager.

Key Tasks/Accountabilities:

  • To assist with the acquisition of sites (existing extensions, greenfield and brownfield sites) and other parcels of land across the United Kingdom, both leasehold and freehold interests as well as management agreements, including undertaking due diligence and assisting with legal negotiations.
  • To work closely with the Head of Estates, wider Estates team, the Commercial Marketing Team, the Sites Operations Team, the Strategic Product Development Team, and the Finance Team to identify suitable acquisition and disposal opportunities that align to objectives and meet the Departmental strategy.
  • To review, with the relevant stakeholders, opportunities that are presented to the business through agents and landowners (corporate and private).
  • To assist the Strategic Product Development Team in identifying new opportunities and acquiring sites to expand the business' serviced accommodation offering.
  • To establish and maintain strong, positive relations with selling agents active in the leisure market to ensure that open market and off market opportunities are introduced at an early stage in the marketing process.
  • To undertake negotiation of Heads of Terms with landowners and / or their agents for leasehold / management agreement opportunities and for terms for the purchase of freehold sites and land.
  • To progress purchases and leases through the acquisition process to a satisfactory completion including close liaison with the company's solicitors, maintaining relations with the vendor / lessor throughout.
  • To assist with the occasional disposal of sites / land as business requirements dictate.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rural or General Practice)
  • Proven experience of acquiring leasehold and freehold properties, ideally including leisure property, either in an advisory role within a property consultancy or client side as an in-house acquisition surveyor.
  • A good working knowledge of the Town and Country Planning system including experience of the planning process and the implications of planning issues upon the acquisition and subsequent development of greenfield, brownfield and existing campsites.
  • A good working knowledge of estate management issues.
  • Strong negotiation skills alongside the ability to build and foster strong, sustainable internal and external relationships, demonstrating a positive and approachable disposition with the ability to build rapport.
  • Strong financial and commercial awareness.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Well-developed IT skills (including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Google Docs, Sheets and Slides).

What you'll get in return
The successful candidate will receive a salary of up to £55k plus an £8k car allowance, 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), flexible and hybrid working, contributory pension scheme - employer contributions of 15%, discounts on car and travel insurance as well as other company products and services, big savings at over 700 retailers, private healthcare scheme, 50% towards your annual gym membership at selected health clubs, free eye tests plus vouchers to help towards cost of frames, access a variety of professional training courses to improve your skills and reimbursement of 50% of adult education courses that you want to take. You must be a driver and on occasion be able to travel and stay overnight at other locations, all expenses paid.
