Senior Project Manager

The University of Exeter is seeking to recruit a Senior Project Manager to play a leading role in the delivery of estate development projects across the University’s renowned campus portfolio.

The University of Exeter estate comprises over 360,000 square metres of academic, research, administrative, commercial, residential accommodation and renewable energy infrastructure on 430 acres of land across Devon and Cornwall.  The University has ambitious plans to continue to development its estate and infrastructure, including a bold commitment to invest in sustainability buildings and infrastructure to support its goal of becoming a Net Zero University by 2050.

The Senior Project Manager will lead the planning and delivery of a diverse portfolio of capital projects that emanate from the University’s capital investment programme, with projects typically being in the £2m to £50m value range, placing emphasis on sustainability, quality and value throughout project delivery.  The post holder will also support the Assistant Director, Capital Development on a range of activities relating to the delivery of the capital programme including leading sustainable design and construction strategies, masterplanning, feasibility appraisal and planning and allocation of resources.

We are seeking an individual with a proven track record of leading complex new-build and refurbishment capital projects from inception to completion.  You will have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills together with strong commercial acumen and a highly organised approach.  Experience of leading large-scale capital projects across academic, research, healthcare, public and/or commercial property types would be advantageous.  It is expected that potential candidates possess a relevant technical background in the construction and property industry supported by a relevant professional qualification.

The University of Exeter is one of the world’s best and is a member of the Russell Group of research-intensive universities.  Formed in 1955, the University was ranked 12th in the UK in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020 and is a Global Top 150 university according to the QS World University Rankings 2022.  The University has a proud history and has grown from its roots in the South-West of England to be a truly inclusive and diverse global university with a community of over 27,000 students and 6,400 staff across four campuses in Devon and Cornwall and an increasingly significant worldwide digital footprint.

This role gives an individual the unique opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of an industry-leading capital programme on one of the most beautiful and diverse campus environments in the UK.  The Candidate Brief can be viewed at https://online.flippingbook.com/view/579653/
