Quantity Surveyor

The University of Lincoln is seeking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join its Estates Team.

Situated in the heart of a beautiful and historic city, the University of Lincoln has established an international reputation for the quality of our teaching and research. Crowned Modern University of the Year in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021, we are an ambitious, fast-paced dynamic organisation that strives to improve the student and staff experience and engagement with the wider Lincoln community.

The Estates Department comprises a high performing team of estate professionals that continues to manage and develop an impressive estate consisting of 130 buildings and 238,000 sqm of space.  The Estates Team is well established with growth planned in staff numbers to support both recent and planned growth – not least the addition of a Medical School, the Centre of Excellence, innovative research buildings and c. 3,000 new student accommodation spaces.

The Quantity Surveyor role is to provide cost management, commercial management, and technical advice to the department in order to ensure the smooth and efficient running of all capital, maintenance and minor work projects, hard and soft FM contracts and departmental budget management.  The role will assist in the coordination of all capital and revenue budgets and will liaise with all teams on providing regular information, updates and budgets, and cost estimating of all University capital, revenue, and maintenance works. It will provide an in-house cost management service on projects (Cost Reporting, Cashflow Forecasting and Feasibility Advice) and evaluate proposals and the resources required for construction and engineering related projects, associated works and services of any value.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in cost management within a complex estates, facilities management, or construction environment.  They will need a strong understanding of public procurement requirements and will have experience of completing and executing various forms of contract including construction contracts and professional services contracts.  A detailed working knowledge of the NEC Suite of Contracts would be highly advantageous.
