Principal Consultant - Nuclear £50000 - £75000 (waste management & decommissioning)

Your new company
You will be joining an established consultancy who operate across the nuclear sector throughout the UK. Due to a continued period of growth they are looking to appoint a Principal consultant or senior consultant level to the consultancy team. They have offices throughout the UK enabling you to be based from any of the below offices half the week with some home working the rest. Lancashire, Cumbria, Cheltenham and Berkshire.
They have a proud history of safely delivering cost-effective decommissioning, waste management and land remediation services for the nuclear industry, the consultancy team are currently at 25 heads with plans to take on an additional 4 people to join them. They are made up of experts and graduate/postgraduate engineers and scientists bringing innovation and enthusiasm tempered with pragmatism to ensure effective delivery for customers.


Your new role
Working within the Consultancy Services division, these roles offer the opportunity to work within a dynamic team delivering a wide range of projects in the fields of radioactive waste management, decommissioning and environmental restoration within the UK nuclear industry. You will be involved in diverse projects developing waste management and decommissioning strategy, characterising and assessing radioactive waste, and supporting waste consignment. This will require you to review technical and strategic data, undertake calculations, process complex datasets, and prepare coherent written reports.


What you'll need to succeed

· Recognised professional qualifications (e.g. BSc/MSc/PhD) in a relevant science-based discipline such as (but not limited to) physics, chemistry, geology and environmental science.
· An awareness of, interest in or experience (dependant on level of role) radioactive waste management and nuclear decommissioning.
  • Self-motivated with an ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with structuring and writing technical reports.
  • Competence in the use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Good communication and engagement skills.



What you'll get in return
You will be offered a salary £40000 - £75000 depending on experience and level. Working between home and the office. 25 holidays plus bank holidays which continue to increase with length of service. 37.5 hour working week, life assurance x3 salary, 5% company contributory pension, health care policy, full training and opportunity to progress. You will have an exciting and challenging work environment that will enable you to use, develop and hone your technical expertise in a supportive and collaborative working environment.
