Quality Monitoring Officer – Placemaking Team

Salary from £23,844 to £26,061 depending on skills and experience Plus lease car subsidy or cash alternative of £2,080 pa

We are looking for organised individual with good time management skills to support the Placemaking Team Leader on a number of specific projects that relate to the wider placemaking/ quality development agenda including Development Plan policy formulation, the creation of supporting planning documents, alongside researching new areas of innovation in areas such as climate change and urban design.

This is an exciting role as you will focus specifically on the major development sites within the borough.

You will also be required to analyse approved plans, relating to components of good placemaking (buildings, spaces around buildings, streets public realm, open space areas, and key landscaping features) and monitor how successfully they are being implemented on key development sites as they are constructed.

A natural ability to communicate and interact with colleagues as well as working closely wide range of partners and organisation is critical to this pioneering role. It is also anticipated that the position will involve some interaction with the public and conversations with new home owners.

You will need to undertake regular site visits to major development sites within the borough and record housing completions to assist the yearly housing monitoring reports.

In order to be proficient in this role you will need to establish a positive and professional working relationship with the land agents and developers who are active in the local housing market along with having:

  • A basic understanding of the planning system
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
  • IT literate
  • Customer focused
  • Ability to work with little supervision
