Permanent Estimator role - Derbyshire - Surfacing - Salary Negotiable - Travel required

Hays are working with an established specialist sub contractor who are seeking an Estimator to join their Commercial department based at our head office in Derbyshire. Due to continued growth the organisation are looking to add an experienced estimator with the ability to develop business into their commercial team. The organisation have a reputation for supporting and progressing their members of staff and allowing them to take autonomy for their own work.

Your new role
You will be reporting into the Commercial Manager and working in a team of Estimators. Due to the type of projects it is imperative that you have experience in the road surfacing highways maintenance sector. Your role will be to effectively deal with enquiries and provide solutions to the client base in a quick and effective manner. You will Identify, generate, maintain and manage relationships with key clients. You will provide clients with appropriate product and service solutions. Assist in bid-writing and the completion of PQQ's and submission. You will accurately prepare, negotiate and analyse costs for tenders and contract. The role will also require to liaise and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors. You will review tender results and contract performance to constantly ensure accurate and effective bids.

What you'll need to succeed
You will ideally have a strong working knowledge of the surfacing sector or strong civil engineering in highways. You will also have excellent IT and numerical skills, the ability to work under pressure, and the ability to adapt, co-ordinate and optimise resources effectively, in order to minimise any unnecessary costs and impact to the business. You will be a self-starter who is commercially focused and responds appropriately on their own to improve outcomes and processes. You will have a full UK driving license.
