Birmingham City Council together with BVSC, Spring Housing and other partners have a clear objective to drive up standards with the implementation of Quality Standards and a Charter of Rights through an Accreditation Scheme for exempt accommodation provision Accommodation within this sector is primarily focused on providing tailored support to vulnerable adults and falls outside of HMO licensing and planning regulations.


Your new role
This role will require you to respond to concerns in Supported Exempt Accommodation, alongside working with stakeholders to raise standards and tackle examples of poor practice. You will hold the appropriate EHO qualification in property standards and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team inspecting properties to assess accommodation standards and take enforcement action if HHSRS standards are not met. Candidates will need to be able to assist with and undertake the relevant property inspections and exercise statutory powers where needed.

This role is a temporary role for a 6-month period.


What you'll need to succeed
A Degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Health, recognised by the CIEH, is necessary to apply for this role, alongside a sound knowledge of Environmental Health legislation and practice relating to housing including the Housing, Health and Hazard Rating System. Also, good oral/written communication skills are important to succeed in this role.
