Water Design Engineer - Flexible between Norwich and Ipswich - Perm
Your new role
Working on schemes that fall within the Production planned work programme including main laying
schemes, meter replacements, planned reactive large diameter and complex burst mains. The Water
Design Engineer will be responsible for each scheme, from design through to delivery, tracking solution
delivery, ensure time and budget is met and that high standards of safety, water quality and sustainability
are maintained.
Project manage the engineering design and delivery of schemes from the IMR planned works
programme
* Actively engage in the DM governance processes for schemes being promoted for design ensuring
that effective collaboration regarding need has been undertaken and appropriate involvement in
the scheme overview/ design packs prior to approval
* Own and plan the risk and value root cause analysis process for each request for solution design to
ensure thorough analysis of business needs
* Undertake site investigations, consider solution options, make recommendation for the desired
solution option and oversee design process
* Own and develop a standard framework for site checks required to be carried out by an IMR
partner. Co-ordinate site checks with the IMR partner, for example checking condition of main,
mains testing to prove leaks, soil samples and site photographs
* Cost Management- Monitor the solution delivery to ensure tracking to agreed costs and escalate
any identified variations requiring approval
* Project management of budget- targets for each scheme
* Drive excellence within H&S in Design
What you'll need to succeed
* NRSWA supervisor trained
* SMSTS qualified
* Experience in contract management and site supervision
* Experience working on water engineering or similar engineering design projects, with a proven
ability to understand the infrastructure from a strategic, tactical, and operational perspective.
* Experience of water supply and network operations
* Commercial awareness
