Engineering M & E Manager

Department/Location: Estates Division - Projects

The University of Cambridge Estates Division is looking to recruit an Engineering Mechanical and Electrical Manager to join the newly established Programme Management Office in the Programme Delivery team. The team is responsible for acting as Client on behalf of the University for the procurement of all new build and refurbishment projects.

The role holder will be responsible for the M&E strategies used in all projects, delivering to the University's policies, needs and targets. Efficient life-cycle operation and carbon reduction targets will form a key part of this.

M&E installations within the University can be highly complex to provide environments for research facilities which are unique within the world, and to interface with and support technical laboratory equipment.

The role holder will ensure the continuous improvement of the M&E brief for capital projects, as well as developing the process for M&E design assurance, incorporated with the relevant sections of the University's Design and Standards Brief.

The ideal candidate will have a professional engineering qualification and experience in the development of M&E engineering strategies in the context of complex development programmes with a wide range of building typologies. In addition they will have sound knowledge of sustainable and passive substitutions for M&E systems and prior involvement in making building life-cycle strategy decisions. They should have a proven ability to act as a technical subject expert, challenging the thinking of others and the ability to appropriately prioritise demands and a wide ranging workload.

Interviews will be held week commencing 13/12/21
