Are you an experienced and qualified building surveyor?

Are you able to identify building defects and advise on remedial works?

Do you have expertise in relation to design, maintenance, repair and refurbishment projects within the residential housing field?

Do you have excellent contract management skills?

Can you positively engage with both contractors and our tenants to run successful schemes delivering quality bathrooms, kitchens, new roofs, doors and windows on time and on budget?

Are you interested or experienced in delivering greener housing schemes such as Air Source Heat Pumps and whole home retrofit to raise our EPC ratings and reduce carbon emissions?

If you have answered yes then we have the role for you.

New Forest District Council is the largest housing provider in the District with over 5,100 Council dwellings made up of houses, flats, hostels and schemes providing extra care. Our Housing service has undergone significant and positive change over the last 3 years as we build on a new strategic vision.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Planned Maintenance Surveyor to join our team which delivers a comprehensive range of planned and project work worth £7m each year.

This is a key role within the service as we work toward meeting new ‘Greener Housing’ targets and our enhanced Asset Management responsibilities. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of contract duties on Planned and Cyclical Maintenance and Capital refurbishment projects to housing properties in the role of Planned Maintenance Surveyor.

What we can offer in return is a great place to work and a great team to work with. We believe that all our employees make a valuable contribution to the work of the council and that’s why we encourage a trusting and open culture where each employee is supported and respected equally, where ideas are actively sought, and self-development promoted.

We also recognise the value of a highly motivated and engaged workforce and we actively promote a good work/life balance.

Benefits include:

  • 26 days leave (plus an additional 5 days after 5 years' service)
  • Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme

If you would like an informal discussion about the role, please contact or to arrange a convenient time to discuss it further.
