Estates Project Manager

The Perse School is seeking to recruit a Project Manager to support the Director of Estates in delivering estate improvement projects.

The Perse School is one of the country’s leading independent day schools and a charitable company, educating 1,700 girls and boys aged 3-18. Located in Cambridge, we comprise of three schools. The Upper, Prep and Pelican. We also have two franchise Schools overseas in Singapore and Suzhou. Given the outstanding education offered, we are consistently over- subscribed and in strong financial health with an annual turnover of some £30million. The School regularly achieves some of the best public examination results and university application outcomes in the UK.

In the last 5 years we have completed a range of projects of varying sizes including: a new RIBA Award Winning Performing Arts Centre, extended the music block, refurbished the sixth form centre and lecture theatre, built a full mezzanine floor seating 150 people in order to extend and enhance our dining facilities, completed 3 years of a 4 year programme replacing the glazing in the main hall. 

With continued investment across our estate, we are seeking a Project Manager to lead, manage and coordinate a range of estates projects from inception to completion.  The postholder will gain broad experience, with the investment spanning across new-build, refurbishment, fit-out and maintenance projects. Subject to planning this person will be heavily involved with a £15m swimming pool & sports hall.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable project management or building surveying experience, having taken responsibility for managing projects in the £100k to £2m value range.  You will have strong commercial and technical skills, with experience of contract procurement and administration.  Experience of working on refurbishment projects in a live, operational environment is critical, as is the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholder groups.
