Job Summary

Day to day responsibility for the vision, viability, and value of a development through inception and design stages. Lead for acquisition, development briefing, stakeholder engagement, consultant management, town planning, 3rd party negotiation, and revenue generation processes.

- Contextual Understanding of Cities & Urban Regeneration:

- Has a well-developed knowledge of the contemporary issues facing cities (such as climate change, health and inequality) and how this connects to urban regeneration. Understanding of latest thinking on the future of urban living and working and how we can apply to our schemes to drive inclusive and valuable outcome

- Drives Accountability and Ensures Effective Delivery: 

- Assumes ownership for the success of the business & displays personal responsibility & accountability. Is committed to delivering the best outcome and manages the delivery of project & commercial results by setting & agreeing performance standards & measures, and tracking performance & results.

- This includes knowledge and understanding of the planning process and how to achieve value through it

- Creative & Critical Thinking Skills

- Confident to drive innovative thinking and challenge status quo throughout the development process to ensure we are continuously learning, adapting and improving
- This includes appreciating value in all senses and understanding how to drive better value outcomes through a development proposition and the cost vs benefit analysis to ensure the best outcomes

- Manages Risk & Opportunity:

- Undertakes all relevant business, project & operational reporting & understanding how to manage the problems, risks & issues associated with managing the development. Engages all relevant stakeholders & contributors to ensure all opportunities are realised & risks are mitigated.

- Communicates with Impact:

- Expresses thoughts, information & feelings clearly. Is concise, articulate and persuasive in conveying ideas and views, and uses energy & an adaptive style to influence & inspire others.

- Makes Evidence Based Quality Decisions:

- Makes good quality, timely decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, consultation, experience and judgement. Has a strong understanding of strategy & business priorities & aligns own decision-making activity to ensure it supports the business direction

 

Essential/Desirable Criteria

 

Essential:

- Demonstrable experience of managing development vision and outcomes in large scale urban regeneration projects and demonstrable understanding of development processes
- A highly collaborative individual who will demonstrable ability to bring together a multi layered team, and lead internal and external stakeholders
- Experience of supporting meaningful and inclusive community engagement processes on contentious development schemes
- Commercial acumen and negotiation skills
- Proven exposure to managing 3rd party stakeholders
- An understanding and appreciation of the contractual relationships between parties (land owners, local authority, tenants, funders and banks)
- A desire to think beyond physical transformation and drive socio economic improvements for local communities
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Strong people management and issue resolution skills, including the ability to upwardly manage Clients. Partners and Stakeholders, motivate and manage internal and external project teams, and delegate
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (eg property, engineering, architecture, or construction etc)
- A passion for cities and placemaking

 

Desirable:

- Relevant sector experience
- Experience of leading community engagement processes on contentious development schemes
- Experience of planning and delivery of regeneration schemes
- MRICS or MRTPI
