Your new company
I'd very much like to hear from you if you are a Senior QS (or QS looking to step up into a senior role) with experience working for main contractors in the new build speculative and public sector housing arena. I have a respected, national client who would be very keen to discuss with you the opportunities available as they continue to grow their business across the south-west.

The company specialises in designing, building and maintaining new housing developments, community buildings and infrastructure across the UK with a view to improving the lives of local populations. They work closely with local architects, authorities and suppliers to ensure that their developments are sympathetically designed and built with local materials and build styles in mind, and use companies from within the region to maximise the advantage the south-west's economy receives.

Your new role
With support and direction from an approachable and highly experienced commercial team leader, your new role will involve utilising your astute commercial skills to maximise profitability on those projects under your direct control. Duties will include:

• Effective commercial control of developments including provision of accurate documentation throughout the project life cycle
• Cost value reconciliations, cash flow forecasts, cash management, etc
• Administration of subcontractor accounts, with a view to developing and maintaining long-term business relationships and minimising dispute avoidance
• Materials control, pricing, reconciliations and accruals
• Attending project meetings and ensuring that surveying information and cost advice is provided in an accurate and proficient manner
• Subcontract final accounts, with re-measurement if necessary to ensure best financial outcomes.

What you'll need to succeed
To qualify for this role, you'll ideally have a relevant tertiary qualification in surveying or construction management, have demonstrable past experience of delivering positive financial outcomes on similar projects, be a keen team player and be willing to go the extra mile to ensure that clients, subcontractors and suppliers alike are dealt with in the most professional and approachable manner. You will also need to be a highly effective communicator as my client is focused on building long-term, lasting relationships with all stakeholders involved in its projects.
