Senior Programme Officers (Building Safety)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Building Safety Team in the GLA’s Housing & Land directorate.

Following the tragedy at Grenfell Tower in 2017, an urgent and high-profile crisis has unfolded with many buildings found to be unsafe. The Government has established a number of funding programmes in response to this crisis and the GLA is administering this funding in London.

We are looking for up to three Senior Programme Officers to join the Building Safety team and support this work. The team’s job will be to help us improve the safety of London’s homes as quickly as possible. These roles are central to achieving the Mayor’s vision that all Londoners should benefit from a safe, good quality home.

This role will lead on ensuring a portfolio of London buildings access funding in order to remove unsafe cladding as quickly as possible. This will involve managing complex relationships with building owners, technical advisers and other government bodies, and leading all aspects of the application, assessment, approval, grant payment and monitoring.

You will be an effective and experienced project manager, with experience of managing large capital budgets and working with external professional advisers, ideally in housing or building safety fields. You will be self-motivated and proactive, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We would welcome applications from candidates who are seeking part time work as this role is open to job share.

At present GLA staff are working largely from home, with office space available at our offices based at City Hall and Union Street. The Mayor has announced that City Hall will be relocating from More London (London Bridge) to the Crystal Building in the Royal Docks. From January 2022, this role will be flexibility split between the Crystal Building and working from home.

In addition to a good salary package, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan, childcare voucher scheme and a career average pension scheme.

If you have a question about the role, please contact Beth.lackenby@london.gov.uk or the recruitment process then please contact a member of the recruitment team via email on glarecruitment@engageats.co.uk quoting reference BST-SPO21.

To apply, please visit our website.

Application closing date: Sunday 24 October 2021 at 23:59 GMT.

Interviews will take place via video on: w/c 15 November 2021.

London’s diversity is its biggest asset and we strive to ensure our workforce reflects this at all levels. We welcome applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or disability.
