Building Surveyor
About the role
We have an excellent opportunity to join our Estates and Digital Services Team where you will play a vital role in the design and management of small–medium maintenance and minor works projects of values up to £1million as well as assisting in the delivery of major capital projects. Working on an agile basis, you will enjoy a working approach which means that you’ll be both home and campus-based and in a way that helps deliver a more effective work-life balance than ever before.
In this highly varied role, you will be responsible for the management of, and liaison with University end users/clients, consultants, approving authorities, contractors and contracts; and the delivery of projects to the agreed timescale, quality and budget. You will lead discussions with departments about scheme requirements, formulating and agreeing a detailed brief and then complete all necessary schedules, costings and specifications. In addition, you will also manage maintenance and minor works projects and managing the construction phase of projects through to completion.
About you
As the successful candidate, you will be a professionally qualified project manager with a minimum of HNC in construction or engineering related discipline. You will have experience of the preparation of comprehensive working drawings using AutoCAD and have significant experience of minor works and large maintenance projects. Experience of working in the higher education would be advantageous but is not essential.
You will be able to evidence knowledge the construction process, project briefing, project procedures and have a demonstrable understanding of relevant legislation and its impact on the University sector including Planning and Listed Building Consents, Building Regulations and Health and Safety. Most importantly, you will be self-motivated, tenacious and focused on achieving results.
