Senior Building Control Surveyor

Job introduction

 

Brighton and Hove Building Control are looking for an experienced Building Control Surveyor looking to take their career to the next level.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to be part of a fantastic team which is involved in an array building projects ensuring that building work in the City is carried out to minimum standards of safety, accessibility and sustainability.

We are one of the busiest Building Control departments in the County and this role will be central to dealing with a range of exciting commercial and domestic projects in the city.

About the role

You will be responsible for working in a small geographical area with the opportunity to be involved in more significant projects. You will have the freedom to manage your own work to suit the needs of your customers.

You will be technically astute, organised, and self-motivated and will have experience and competence in the following areas:

  • Building control site inspections and recording inspection details on a data base
  • Working with Developers and Builders to ensure the works are in accordance with Building Regulations, advising clients on technical matters –offering technical advice and guidance
  • Managing own workload
  • Plan checking for compliance with the building regulations
  • Appropriate knowledge and understanding of the Building Regulations, associated legislation, and construction standards.

You will ideally be full member or working towards chartership of a professional organisations such as RICS / CABE, or CIOB.

You will be able to do work largely at home whilst, as part of the COVID 19 recovery, you will be able to work at our base in Hove Town Hall on agreed days.

This position is in receipt of a £3000 market supplement.
