Site Operations Manager offering £65,000 in chemical solvent recovery, based cheshire.

Your new company
You will be joining an established company who is looking to appoint a Site Operations Manager based in cheshire. The key objective of this position is to manage, develop, maintain and continuously improve the performance of the business, through line managers, ensuring that all aspects of operations are performed effectively and efficiently with due consideration for health, safety and the environment. Reporting to the MD you will have overall responsibility for all plant operations, logistics, quality and engineering. There company has about 55 staff with a direct team of 4 engineers and 1 plant manager you will work closely with.


Your new role


  • Ensure optimal use of plant such that throughput and efficiency is maximised.
  • Continuously reduce the number of batches that require rework
  • Provide costs for any new streams that are proposed and advise commercial personnel of these costs.
  • Liaise with development chemist regards new streams to ensure that information is generated in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Liaise with customers regards products/ processing/quality as required. Act as the main contact for resin, plus other key product streams as designated.
  • Ensure that waste water and residues are collected from site such that the plant is not delayed due to water tanks being full and amount of residues on the yard are managed such that they do not exceed our limits.
  • Monitor material stocks to ensure low tier COMAH level does not breach the COMAH upper tier threshold.
  • Manage engineering costs and assist with reducing these where appropriate.

  • All individuals have a responsibility, under the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974), to ensure that the Company's safety and health systems are complied with to maintain a safe working environment for all employees, contractors and visitors.



    What you'll need to succeed
    You will be degree qualified in chemistry or chemical engineering, ideally with a health and safety qualification.
    A good knowledge of Health, safety and environment legislation and experienced at implementing and applying as such. A good knowledge of Employment law and its application. Any other relevant qualification relating to quality, safety, environment and processing.


  • Experienced production manager within the Chemical Industry.
  • Good knowledge of Organic Chemistry and basic reactions
  • Excellent people manager.
  • A champion of continuous improvement - be a leader and not a follower.
  • Experience of process scale up from laboratory to plant
  • Knowledge of engineering principles, equipment and materials
  • Experience of analytical techniques - wet chemistry and instrumental analysis (GC, HPLC, GCMS) and experience of interpretation of GC, HPLC and GCMS chromatograms. Knowledge of Infra-Red and UV analysis is desirable.
  • Experienced resource planner/ manager.
  • Understands issues associated with process scale up and implements actions to mitigate any perceived issues.



  • What you'll get in return
    You will be offered up to £65,000 salary depending on experience, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, 40 hours per week, 5% pension scheme.
