Course Director – Construction Engineering Master’s degree programme

Join us to transform the future of the construction industry. Do you have the passion and commitment to head up a world-leading academic programme designed to enable current and emerging leaders and innovators to drive transformation of the construction industry?

The role

We are looking for a dynamic, impressive and committed Course Director for the Construction Engineering Master’s (CEM) degree programme at the University of Cambridge to build on its presence, growth and success.

The next decade will see the advance of digital construction, new technologies and changes to industry practice to address pressing societal challenges including zero carbon and resource constraint. The Construction Engineering Master’s (CEM) degree programme is at the forefront of shaping and driving leadership in times of rapid change. Widely acknowledged for delivering excellence, the programme aims to equip current and future leaders, professionals and innovators with the skills, knowledge and inspiration needed to build a sustainable, productive, efficient and world-class construction sector.

We need a Course Director of high standing to lead the way and to further the vision of the strategic partnership of the University of Cambridge and Laing O’Rourke.

The programme

The CEM is an established two-year, part-time, multidisciplinary leadership Master’s degree programme run by the Laing O’Rourke Centre for Construction Engineering and Technology in the Department of Engineering in association with the Cambridge Judge Business School. The Course Director will lead the development, management, teaching, and ongoing evaluation of the CEM programme to ensure the very highest academic quality and professional standards are met, commensurate with the reputation of the University of Cambridge as one of the world's greatest seats of learning.

As Course Director you will design and deliver the course and engage and contract a large and diverse group of programme contributors drawn from academia, industry and government in the UK and abroad. You will oversee recruitment of each cohort of students, as well as understanding and complying with the regulatory requirements of Cambridge University Master’s programmes. In this role you will be comfortable creating solutions to new challenges and be effective at fostering a culture of creativity and innovation.

Candidates should preferably have a PhD or Master’s degree in a construction-related subject; a strong track record in programme or project design and delivery, teaching experience, an interest in engaging with interdisciplinary research communities, and professional experience in the construction sector. Alongside strong interpersonal and communication skills, you will also have an understanding, enthusiasm, and flair for engaging with a broad spectrum of industry leaders and experts, academic colleagues and students and a commitment to the principles and delivery of continuing education. Are you this exceptional person? If so we would like to receive your application.
