Smart Building Specialist

£41,526 - £49,553 per annum, with potential to progress to £55,750 through sustained exceptional contribution

Are you interested in working for a World Top-100 University?

We have an excellent opportunity for a Smart Building Specialist to join the AMRC North West Team in Preston. The AMRC Northwest have recently secured funding to develop their new purpose build facility into a Low Carbon Smart Factory Demonstrator which will act as a regional, national and international showcase to demonstrator technologies to enable them to be evaluated and adopted in legacy manufacturing facilities to reduce the cost of energy. The vision is for the building to demonstrate how the use of connected assets throughout a facility can provide information in respect of real-time and historical energy use, enabling industrial enterprises to streamline energy and resources from a bottom-line perspective in both the production and office spaces in addition to improving staff health and wellbeing.

As the Smart Building Specialist, you would be recruited at the start of the project and would take a major part in shaping and developing the delivery and the outcomes.

An important aspect of your role will be to provide specialist industry knowledge and to steer the technical direction of the demonstrator project to ensure it is procured, installed and delivered successfully and as such you will have experience of delivering smart building technology and strong network connectivity experience.

You will be expected to co-ordinate project scoping, set up, delivery and wrap up as well as advising on technical matters across a range of Low Carbon Smart Building technology projects including knowledge of producing and implementing technical solutions to decarbonise buildings and improve energy efficiency. After the initial phase of the demonstrator project, you will be responsible for creating a sustainable pipeline of research projects and for growing the order book in subsequent years.

You will have:

  • Have a good honours degree (or equivalent industrial experience).
  • A background in Low Carbon Smart Building technology
  • Understand the range of technologies currently available in the market and their capabilities
  • Experience of specification , procurement and installation of Low Carbon Smart Building technology
  • Network Connectivity experience for new Building projects and retro-fit.
  • Knowledge of producing and implementing technical solutions to decarbonise buildings, improve energy efficiency and install renewables.
