Deputy Head of Estates Development

The award-winning Department of Estates and Facilities Management (EFM) at the University of Sheffield is responsible for maintaining the University's buildings, facilities and grounds, managing its property and facilities and procuring new buildings.

The University's estate contains a wide and varied range of properties. Some, such as the Arts Tower, are of great architectural importance and must be preserved as part of our national heritage, whilst others such as the stunning Diamond and award-winning Information Commons, are modern and sophisticated in their design and servicing.

Estates Development is at the forefront of the University’s strategic and capital programme, managing and delivering developments and commitments that underpin its world class facilities.

The University of Sheffield is now seeking to appoint a prominent senior post to play an important role in the delivery of the University’s major capital programme.  This new role carries full project lifecycle responsibility for circa 60 projects at any one time, with values ranging from £50k to £90m and an overall rolling value of circa £200m.  The focus will be to provide strong leadership, support and guidance to the Project Managers; there has never been a more exciting time to join the leadership of this team.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in project leadership roles with responsibility for planning and managing estate development projects in environments with comparable characteristics to those found at the University.  The role requires excellent Client and stakeholder management skills together with wide experience and technical knowledge of construction and development. You will have the skills and competency to lead multiple teams managing complex projects from inception to completion and into operation.
